Privacy Policy for Hroshi

Hroshi is a personal finance tracker built on a simple principle: your financial data is yours, and it stays on your device. This policy explains exactly what that means, and it describes the only two cases where any data leaves your iPhone at all.

The short version

Hroshi does not collect, transmit, store, sell, or share your personal or financial data. There is no account to create. There are no ads, no trackers, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs. We — the developer — cannot see your data, because it is never sent to us. We operate no server that receives it.

What Hroshi stores, and where

Everything you enter into Hroshi — your accounts, balances, transactions, transfers, categories, comments, and currency settings — is stored in a database file on your device itself. It is never uploaded to any server operated by us or by anyone else.

Deleting the app removes this data from your device.

Optional iCloud backup

Hroshi offers an optional iCloud backup, which is turned off unless you enable it.

If you turn it on, Hroshi periodically copies your database to your own private iCloud storage, using your Apple Account. This is the same iCloud storage that holds your other personal files.

To be precise about what this means:

• The backup is stored in a private container that only your copy of Hroshi can access.
• The developer of Hroshi has no access to it and cannot read, retrieve, or delete it.
• This data is handled by Apple and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• You can delete the backup at any time from within the app, under Settings.

If you leave this feature off, no data ever leaves your device.

Exchange rates

Hroshi supports accounts in more than 120 currencies. To keep conversions accurate, it periodically fetches current exchange rates — at most once every two days.

To do this, Hroshi makes a single request to a public exchange-rate service, open.er-api.com, operated by ExchangeRate-API.

The only information sent in this request is the three-letter code of your chosen default currency — for example, USD or EUR. Nothing else is transmitted: no account names, no balances, no transactions, no device identifiers, and no identifying information about you. The request carries no login, no API key, and no user ID.

As with any request made over the internet, the service will necessarily see the IP address your request comes from. We mention this because it is technically true of every network request, not because Hroshi shares your IP address deliberately. We do not receive it, log it, or have any access to it. ExchangeRate-API's own handling of requests is described in their privacy policy.

If your device is offline, Hroshi continues to work using the exchange rates it already ships with.

What Hroshi does not do

To state it plainly and completely, Hroshi contains:

• No user accounts. You cannot sign up, and there is nothing to sign in to.
• No analytics or telemetry. We do not measure how you use the app.
• No advertising and no advertising networks.
• No trackers and no third-party tracking SDKs.
• No crash reporting services.
• No data sharing or sale. There is no data to share, and we would not sell it if there were.

Children

Hroshi does not collect data from anyone, including children. The app is safe for users of any age in this respect.

Your rights

Because Hroshi collects no personal data, there is no data held about you that could be requested, corrected, exported, or deleted. Your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud, both of which are under your control at all times.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a revised "Last updated" date. Any change that meaningfully affects how data is handled will also be reflected in the app itself.
